SNATCHES AND LAYS (Revised Edition). Hogbotel and Ffuckes. Sun Books
(Australia), small quarto paperback (stiff pictorial card), Revised Ed,
1983, 104 pages. Warning: a bawdy book! 'A serious collection of songs
presented as shared vocal entertainment by men of the Australian
services, students, smoke-room and sporting club gatherers etc. between
the years of, say, 1940 and 1960.' Some signs of its age but generally
good copy. Cat nr 17997 - $A47 including shipping within Australia (foreign additional charge).
![]() LIFE AND MYTH OF CHARMIAN CLIFT, The. Wheatley, Nadia. Flamingo, large paperback (stiff pictorial card), 2002, 739 pages, illustrated. (Heavy book - postage additional to standard rate may apply: you will be emailed with details.) Charmian Clift was a dynamic larger-than-life character. Writer of fiction and travel books, journalist with an enthusiastic audience, she teamed up with fellow writer George Johnston and eventually they made their home on a remote Greek island. Charmian also had another side - as a photographic model, winning the NSW title of the Pix Beach Girl competition in 1941 (there is charming photo of her in the book). The book is enhanced with three excellent sections of B&W photos. This copy has obviously been read but has only light wear and is generally good. Cat nr 17987 - $A27 including shipping within Australia (foreign additional charge). |
